Peter Wendel
Peter Wendel is a Swedish visual artist based in Gothenburg. He holds an MFA in Photography from HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, and works at the intersection of photography, installation, and psychoanalytic theory. His practice combines digital and analogue processes in an exploration of how the unconscious can be made visible through the image.
In his recent installations, he lets body, water, and light interact as generative interfaces where the viewer becomes an active part of the work.
Wendel’s work moves between photography, philosophy, and psychology – between light and shadow, surface and depth. He explores how the image can become a threshold to the unconscious, where memory and layers of time overlap. Photography, for him, is not a way to depict the world as it appears, but to sense what lies beneath its surface. His process seeks not definitive answers, but spaces where questions are allowed to remain.
